Webber believes Piastri ought to be in a stronger position in the championship battle.

"You need to be strong on all tracks."

Lando Norris asserts that he will not allow inquiries about his mentality to interfere with his championship battle against McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Following his retirement at Zandvoort, Norris is now 34 points behind, with Piastri taking pole position, leading, and ultimately winning the race. Piastri's manager, former F1 driver Mark Webber, believes that the Australian's consistency gives him an advantage.

"You need to be solid on all circuits, just as he was in the first part of the season," Webber told RTBF. "We can all agree that there have been some points lost, but often those were due to factors beyond his control. Therefore, the points gap doesn't fully represent the reality. In terms of the number of kilometers spent in the lead, he is significantly ahead."

At Monza, Norris mentioned that he has "forgotten" the setback from the Dutch GP and countered suggestions that he lacks the toughness of rivals like Max Verstappen.

"Everyone is different, and my approach isn't necessarily the wrong one," he stated to Viaplay. "I admire the character and mentality of other drivers, such as Max, who really embodies that 'f**k you' attitude. Sometimes I wish I could be more like that. But people are simply different. And there are days when I recognize my nature, which can be either a weakness or a strength - but only when I communicate openly with the media. Lewis wasn’t like that, nor was Max as a four-time world champion. These drivers weren’t like that, whether you mention Senna, Prost, or anyone else.

"However, what I would be most proud of is if I can succeed, I’ll do it my way. If I can’t set a new standard, I aim to establish a new perspective by demonstrating that you don’t need to be unpleasant to succeed; you don’t need to have that attitude. I want to do it my way."

Norris acknowledged that Piastri’s demeanor highlights their differences even more. "I know who I’m competing against. I’m up against someone who is just as fast and skilled as I am. And he remains incredibly calm and composed. I appear more emotional in comparison."
