Berger: Max can handle any situation.

On the Austrian television channel ServusTV, which is part of the Red Bull media empire, a special episode of the program Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar-7 aired dedicated to Max Verstappen's recent victory in the Italian Grand Prix.

Invited to the studio were well-known figures, former drivers and team principals such as Gerhard Berger, Franz Tost, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Mathias Lauda, the son of Niki Lauda, who won the WEC title in the LMGTE Am category in 2017.

After 16 rounds of the season Max is third in the championship, and although he is not contending for the title this year, the Red Bull Racing driver once again shone with skill in Monza. He claimed his 66th victory with a more than convincing margin, finishing 19 seconds ahead of Lando Norris.

Here is what Franz Tost, who once ran the Toro Rosso team in which Max made his Formula 1 debut ten years ago, said about it:

"Max had a great race. He is in superb form right now. But most importantly, psychologically he is very composed, which he demonstrated immediately after the start: he cut the first chicane, but immediately realized that such a manoeuvre could have consequences. Just a few years ago it could have ended in a collision, or he might have refused to give the position back."

Berger, who has 210 Grands Prix to his name, also spoke very highly of the reigning world champion: "After every weekend we say that this was the best Max Verstappen race we have ever seen. This guy is a master of an incredibly high level. On track he knows how to handle any situation. He is simply the best driver in the championship and, possibly, the best of all who have ever competed in Formula 1."
