Former Formula 1 backmarker Taki Inoue has criticized the current talent level in Formula 2. In a social media response to footage of the chaotic F2 race at Monza last weekend, the Japanese ex-driver, known for joking about his own modest career, made a comparison between today's drivers and himself. "Formula 2 has been saturated with drivers like Taki Inoue in recent years," the 62-year-old stated. "I'm convinced that this is due to the increased budgets—teams are now favoring drivers with financial support over genuine talent." His remark comes during a highly competitive F2 season, with the championship battle led by Richard Verschoor, Leonardo Fornaroli, and Jak Crawford, who are contending for the title based on merit. Front-runners Leonardo Fornaroli, Luke Browning, Richard Verschoor, and Jak Crawford are competing for the 2025 title with three rounds remaining.
