Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has acknowledged that the recent airstrike in Doha, Israel, casts a sensitive light on the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix, although he remains optimistic that the race will proceed as scheduled. The airstrike, which occurred on September 9, targeted senior Hamas officials, including those involved in ceasefire negotiations, in a Doha district. The incident resulted in the deaths of five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer, triggering significant diplomatic repercussions from Qatar and neighboring countries.

In an interview with The Observer, Domenicali stated: "That is very tragic, very difficult. We are closely monitoring the situation, but at this moment, we cannot say that there is a concern for the race proceeding." He expressed hope that sports could foster positivity. The Italian highlighted Formula 1's extensive global presence and impact, noting: "We are the only worldwide sport that annually travels the globe where we engage with prime ministers, kings, and influential leaders around the world. My hope is that through Formula 1, we can also discuss the broader issues facing our world."
