Sergio Pérez has been entrusted with an honorable mission.
The world learned of Sergio Pérez's forthcoming return to Formula 1 less than a month ago, but the Mexican driver has already been entrusted with a special honorary mission that he will carry out as a Cadillac F1 driver.
The creation of the new Formula 1 team is being handled by the American company TWG Global, and its interests are not limited to motorsport; among other things, it owns shares in the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball club, which competes in Major League Baseball.
The club is famous, and last year it won the World Series for the eighth time.
Tomorrow in Los Angeles at their home ballpark the Dodgers will host the Philadelphia Phillies, and Sergio has been entrusted to open the game by making the ceremonial first pitch. The moment is made additionally significant by the fact that this week, on September 16, Mexico celebrates Independence Day.
"I have the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch for the Dodgers, and it is especially significant that this will take place during Mexican Heritage Month and immediately after Mexico's Independence Day," Sergio commented. "I am very proud to celebrate this with Mexican fans, including the Mexican community in Los Angeles. Baseball is a new sport for me, but it is heartening to see that this game has an incredibly powerful impact on people — it brings them together, and TWG is doing important work in that regard."
