A team representative said, "George is regaining his strength so he can sit behind the wheel on Friday." At the official FIA press conference on Thursday, Russell will be replaced by his teammate Kimi Antonelli. If necessary over the course of the weekend, Mercedes' reserve driver Valtteri Bottas will replace Russell in the cockpit.
