Penalty points after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix
The FIA uses a system of penalty points on the superlicense to reduce the number of infractions. Each infraction is punished by a certain number of points; their total over 12 months must not exceed twelve — otherwise the driver is disqualified for one race, which happened in 2024 with Kevin Magnussen. Twelve months after being assigned, penalty points expire.
The next time penalty points will expire is 28 October — those are two points from Verstappen and two points from Colapinto, received during last year's Mexican Grand Prix.
After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix fifteen active drivers have unexpired penalty points. The leader in number is Oliver Bearman.
