Christian Horner's next move could be even more unexpected than his unprecedented severance payout from Red Bull, as reports connect him to a leadership position in MotoGP. The Sun, referencing sources from the Daily Mail, states that former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone has put forward the 51-year-old as a potential figure to lead the motorcycle series, which was recently taken over by Formula 1 owner Liberty Media.

Horner’s departure from Red Bull, which was confirmed this week amidst speculation of a payout ranging from EUR 60m to 100m, has naturally sparked rumors regarding his future. Teams such as Alpine and Haas have been mentioned as possible new homes within the F1 paddock.

A source close to the dismissed team principal emphasized that Horner’s priority remains with four wheels. "He is not in a position to think about his next move right now," the insider remarked. "He wants to return to the F1 paddock but intends to evaluate the best way to make that happen. He will."

"He is a workaholic, and idleness is not his preference. In fact, this situation wasn't his choice; it just came unexpectedly."

Currently, Horner is subject to restrictions that reportedly hinder a return until mid-2026, and it is believed he actually accepted a lower payout to reduce the duration of his 'gardening leave.'
