Villeneuve: Ferrari's results have declined since Sainz's departure
Jacques Villeneuve believes Ferrari made a mistake by ending their partnership with Carlos Sainz. The 1997 world champion is convinced that Ferrari's results in 2025 declined in part because of the driver change.
Jacques Villeneuve: "If you look at Sainz's career, you can see that every time he changed teams it took him about half a season to get up to speed. But during that period he made the team work better. That was the case with every team he joined.
There were moments when teammates beat him by a few hundredths of a second. But they were faster thanks to the work Sainz had done within the team. And then Carlos would start to get ahead of his teammate. Even if you look at Charles Leclerc, he did not beat Sainz at Ferrari, as many people want to think.
Every time Sainz left a team, that team's results fell. Every time. And now the same story is happening with Ferrari."
