"One of the highest-paid executives in the sports industry"

McLaren CEO Zak Brown has ascended to become one of the top-earning executives in the world of sports, earning more than his own Formula 1 drivers. As indicated in documents submitted to Companies House, Brown earned just over $50 million last year after guiding McLaren to its first constructors’ title since 1998. According to Bloomberg, the pay for the team’s highest-earning director "rose from ($35 million) the previous year," with a McLaren spokesperson confirming that Brown was the recipient of this amount. This figure surpasses the reported salaries of both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, even as they led McLaren back to the forefront of F1 and currently top the drivers’ world championship in 2025.

Key management compensation at McLaren more than doubled to $102 million, primarily due to stock-based awards, while profits climbed to $50 million on revenues of $714 million. The overall valuation of the team now exceeds $4.6 billion, with Bahrain’s Mumtalakat and Abu Dhabi’s CYVN Holdings poised to gain control. Brown, aged 53, has been at the helm since 2018, also overseeing McLaren’s Indycar division. Bloomberg noted that he is now "one of the sports industry’s highest-paid bosses."
