Mekis: We might end up around the 5th or 6th position.
Laurent Mekies, head of Red Bull Racing, shared his expectations for the Singapore round of the season ahead of qualifying. "For now we can say that compared with last year we've taken a big step forward," Mekies said in an interview with Sky Sports. "First and foremost this applies to circuits where the car needs to be set up for a high level of downforce. That means we've got a pretty good understanding of the chassis' shortcomings, and our guys are managing to extract more speed from the RB21, so we're back in the game. Nevertheless, with such tight margins, when five cars can literally fit within a tenth, it's still possible we could end up around fifth or sixth. We have to thank all the specialists working at the team's factory who managed to turn things around, and our noticeable deficit to the leaders has definitely been reduced." Mekies also stressed that the upgraded front wing is fitted only to Max Verstappen's car.
