Ecclestone: I don't understand why Germany isn't on the calendar.

When Michael Schumacher was winning, Formula 1's popularity in Germany was so great that the country hosted two rounds. Then Germans grew tired of racing — the German Grand Prix was last held in 2020, when, because of the pandemic, the calendar was forced to consist mainly of European rounds.

Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone said in an interview with sport.de that he does not understand why, now that interest in Formula 1 is growing worldwide, there is no German round on the calendar.

Bernie Ecclestone: "I think about it often and don't understand the reasons. It's very strange that there is no German round on the calendar. No one would object, except perhaps a few people in Germany itself. It's only about the money. You need someone to provide the proper funding — and everything will work."
