Jack Crawford: A new experience awaits me in Mexico City.

Jack Crawford: A new experience awaits me in Mexico City.

In Mexico Jack Crawford will make his debut behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car during the race weekend. The American driver will run the first practice session, replacing Lance Stroll. In an interview with the Aston Martin press office Jack talked about his preparations for the upcoming sessions.

Question: What do you think about taking part in the first practice behind the wheel of the AMR25?

Jack Crawford: I’m very excited. Last year I took part in tests in Abu Dhabi after the season ended and did several TPC tests in a car from previous years. Now I’m facing a new experience, considering there will be many other cars on track, so traffic will be one of the factors I’ll have to deal with.

We have a packed schedule ahead, as we’ll need to work on the car’s setup for the weekend. I’m looking forward to taking part in that.

Question: How exactly did you prepare?

Jack Crawford: I worked on the Aston Martin simulator and did a lot of laps, refreshing my memory of the track and its key points. The simulator gave me an excellent opportunity to try some things before getting into a real car. I studied a lot of telemetry data and onboard footage from past years, so I feel ready.

Question: This won’t be your first time competing at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. What do you remember about it?

Jack Crawford: The last time I raced at this circuit was six years ago in NACAM Formula 4. My first Formula 4 race was also at this track, but this time I’ll be lapping faster!

I like the track, its flowing nature and that you can use the curbs for different lines. I especially like the esses section. It’s really cool.

Driving the “Stadium” section is also great, as it’s one of the most famous parts of racing circuits in the world. The section is very slow and technical, and because it’s at the end of the lap the tyres are no longer in optimal condition.

In terms of atmosphere, the Stadium gives the best experience, so I’m looking forward to driving there in a Formula 1 car. I wouldn’t be surprised if you can hear the fans on the slow lap.

Question: Do you have any specific goals for this practice session?

Jack Crawford: I don’t have any specific goals beyond the obvious — to complete a clean session, provide quality feedback and help the team so that the information I gather becomes the basis for a successful weekend.

What are your plans for 2026? Can you share details yet?

Jack Crawford: 2026? You’ll have to wait a little before I can announce the details. We’ve had a lot of discussions behind the scenes. All I can say right now is that I want to stay with the team and continue this fantastic journey. I want to keep learning and progressing together with Aston Martin.
