"We're not yet where we aspire to be."

Charles Leclerc strongly believes that Ferrari has the right individuals in place, even amid another disappointing season that has made the team a subject of ridicule online. Although he secured a podium finish in Austin, a series of missed chances has caused the Scuderia to fall behind its competitors in both speed and results, leading to a surge of memes mocking Ferrari's performance and speculation about the need for external changes within the team. Nevertheless, the Monegasque driver asserts that the solution lies internally.

"We’re not where we want to be yet," he stated in Mexico. "However, I am confident that the right people are in the right positions. This gives me reassurance for what’s ahead."

"I know the team and how hard we are working to enhance our processes and methods," he continued. "New members are joining us, offering fresh perspectives and different strategies, which fills me with optimism for the future."

Leclerc concurred that 2026, when Formula 1's significant new regulations come into play, could be a pivotal moment for Ferrari. "Next year will be a crucial turning point," he remarked. "But I am hopeful because I understand the team, the individuals, and the direction we are headed."

He attributes Ferrari’s recent drop in performance to other teams progressing while Maranello has halted updates. "Some of our rivals have gained extra speed with their recent upgrades, but that was anticipated," Leclerc explained.

"We haven't introduced new components, while others have. That’s a choice—one that I believe will yield benefits at the beginning of next year. We recognize what we need to accomplish, and I trust that the decisions we make now will enable us to compete for victories once again."

Leclerc also noted that Ferrari's improved performance in Austin was due to slight adjustments rather than significant modifications. "We certainly didn't completely revise the car," he pointed out. "Ultimately, it was merely minor tweaks in the setup and how we warm the tires, which we understand are quite sensitive this year."

He further commended the team’s innovative race strategy of starting on soft tires. "On the grid, I found that I was the only one at the front using them," he mentioned. "At that moment, I began to question whether it was the right decision.

"It turned out to be the correct choice, and I'm pleased to know that we were the only ones to consider that strategy. That's how you stand out."
