In Las Vegas, preparations are underway to amaze the public once again.
The organizers of the Las Vegas Grand Prix say they will once again create a sensation this year — after the 2024 race provoked a relatively muted public reaction.
The first Las Vegas Grand Prix, held on November 18, 2023, was accompanied by an impressive show, and overall the weekend’s program was quite varied; however, the teams' and drivers' work in the very first practice was overshadowed by problems related to the condition of the track.
Las Vegas took that lesson into account and also tried, where possible, to shorten the period during which streets and roads were closed to normal city traffic, which, of course, caused serious dissatisfaction among the local population. The ticketing program was also adjusted — the share of relatively affordable tickets in the general admission areas was increased.
Ahead of this year’s race, scheduled for November 22, Emily Preiser, president of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, promised that fans would not be disappointed.
“We are once again preparing to make a sensation,” Preiser said, as quoted by the American publication Racer. “I believe we were satisfied with how we performed even after the second race. I think everyone knows, and it is documented, that this year we changed our approach to the ticketing program; everything is pointing to a sellout.
“What makes Vegas unique is that in this market many decisions are made at the last minute, including ticket purchases. People fly in and ask what’s happening in the city that weekend. You could say we have received confirmation that we are doing the right thing by offering cheaper tickets to the local public and trying to make them genuinely affordable.
“We also had to partially revise our approach to the weekend program so that our product remains of the highest possible quality. We are actively discussing this, and while, for example, the stages in Miami and Austin are straightforward, Vegas is known for its entertainment industry, so I think that on the night from Saturday to Sunday you will have a very vivid experience, and there will also be several different surprises we are preparing for the post-race show.”
However, the weekend program will begin as early as Wednesday, November 19, when those Formula 1 drivers who enjoy golf in their spare time will take to the course at the elite Wynn Golf Club to take part in a tournament that is already becoming a tradition.
