Magnussen makes an appearance in Zurich with a new emphasis beyond Formula 1.

"The switch felt like beginning anew."

Former Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen has made a return in Zurich, where he has accepted a new challenge as an investor in the Swiss motorsport simulator company Racing Unleashed. The 33-year-old Danish driver is now part of Racing Unleashed. "Until now, motorsport was meant only for the wealthy," he shared with Blick. "Karts, spare parts, travel - it all adds up to a huge expense. With the simulators, racing is finally becoming accessible to thousands of talented individuals out there."

In addition to his new business pursuits, the former Haas driver has ventured into endurance racing, participating in the World Endurance Championship with BMW. "Winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the ultimate goal," he stated. "The switch felt like starting all over again."

Despite this new path, Magnussen remains a keen follower of F1 and watches "every race." He was even present at Silverstone - in the Sauber garage - when his former teammate Nico Hulkenberg achieved his first-ever podium finish. "He deserved it. It was a fantastic performance," Magnussen remarked.

Regarding the current title race, he expressed: "At this moment, I wouldn’t enforce team orders at McLaren either. However, at some point, they will need to be cautious. Max is getting closer and closer," he noted. When asked who he thinks will clinch the championship, Magnussen mentioned Oscar Piastri. "I believe Oscar will win it," he remarked, adding that "Charles Leclerc should win the title eventually."

Unlike many of his former peers who have chosen to invest in wine or spirits brands, Magnussen opts for different ventures. "I don’t know what motivates them. I focus on my own endeavors," he stated.

In addition to his investment in Racing Unleashed, he is also a co-investor - alongside Felipe Massa and Novak Djokovic - in the French football club Le Mans FC. "Primarily, this investment is a matter of the heart," he explained. "The stadium is situated right in the center of the racetrack - it’s the perfect match."
