Hülkenberg: One of the toughest qualifying sessions

Nico Hülkenberg (11th): "This is one of the toughest qualifying sessions of my career, especially the first session, when grip on the track was very low. Because of the low downforce and the slippery asphalt, the Vegas circuit is already fairly challenging, and in the rain it became even more unpredictable.
I think overall we did well, but we couldn't make it into the final — I missed my chance in the last corner on the final flying lap, losing a bit of time. Nevertheless, we didn't make any major mistakes and put together a clean run — that was important today."
Gabriel Bortoleto (18th): "At the start of the session I felt fairly comfortable and the pace was good, but on the last two or three laps the speed suddenly dropped. This is my first full qualifying session on a wet track. Visibility was very poor, there wasn't enough grip, and there were many dangerous moments. We need to understand why the pace dropped during the session, which prevented me from achieving more. I'm starting at the back of the grid, so tomorrow won't be easy, but I'll try to make the most of any opportunity."
