Gasly: The car was seriously damaged.
Sunday's race in Qatar did not bring any points for the Alpine team…
Franco Colapinto (14th): "We knew that, given the high tyre wear, teams would stick to similar strategies, so I would have little chance to fight back after starting from the pit lane. For me the race felt long and lonely. After the setup changes the car behaved better, but it lacked the pace to attack rivals. Yesterday I didn't get it right, today went better, but we couldn't get a result — there wasn't enough grip, the car was sliding, especially in the final stages of the race. But there are positives — the team was able to test some things that could help us. We are looking forward to the final round in Abu Dhabi and will try to finish the season with a good result."
Pierre Gasly (16th): "The result is really disappointing; starting ninth, I expected more. The car picked up minor damage when I went off at Turn 14, then Nico Hülkenberg on Soft tyres put heavy pressure on me for several laps. I stuck to my usual line; up to the first corner we were side by side, and then during the overtake he clipped the front-left of my car. I suffered a puncture, and that was basically the end of my fight in the race — the car was seriously damaged. We'll try to score points next week in Abu Dhabi."
