Alex Albon: We must remain realistic.
Alex Albon finished the second practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix in eighth place, ahead of both Red Bull Racing drivers. The Williams driver is satisfied with Friday's results but adds that it will be difficult to replicate such a performance in qualifying.
His teammate Carlos Sainz set the thirteenth fastest time and after the session mentioned that the car lacks speed during a long run with a full tank.
Alex Albon (8th): "Friday is done. The day was more positive than the last two weekends. We have to stay realistic – I think we looked a bit stronger today than we will tomorrow. But at least the car feels better than in previous races.
We fixed some issues, and thanks to adjustments in the setup, we found something interesting in the second session. The team is gradually moving in the right direction."
Carlos Sainz (13th): "It was difficult to extract the maximum from the car today, but in the second session, we had a good pace on the fast laps. We look more competitive on a single lap, while with a full tank over a long distance, we start to have pace issues.
In the evening, we'll see what can be changed in the setup to get more speed from the car. I hope we can improve before qualifying."
