Italian athletes congratulate each other.
Yesterday, Italian fans had several wonderful reasons to celebrate: early in the morning European time, Kimi Antonelli won the Japanese Grand Prix, and the day ended with a victory on the American track in Austin by Marco Bezzecchi, competing in MotoGP.
This stage of the World Motorcycle Racing Championship is called the US Grand Prix, and it was dominated by representatives of the factory team of a well-known Italian company – Bezzecchi and his teammate, Spaniard Jorge Martin, secured a winning double for Aprilia Racing. By the way, Marco is currently leading the championship, having won all three stages of the season, and Aprilia tops the team standings.
Additionally, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner became the winner of the Masters series tournament in Miami, after which he first congratulated his friend Kimi Antonelli live on air for his success in Japan.
The 19-year-old Mercedes driver, who secured his second consecutive victory in the Grand Prix, mentioned that he had sent Sinner his wishes the day before: “Last night I wished Jannik success. I hope he wins the final match, and I sincerely hope for that. The same goes for Marco Bezzecchi in MotoGP. Even if I’m already on a plane at that time, I will be cheering for all the Italians!”
We now know that these wishes played their part, and here’s how Bezzecchi commented on it: “As soon as I woke up, I saw that Kimi won the Formula 1 race, and I immediately sent him a message. His wishes directed at me also gave me extra confidence before my race.”
