Doohan announces shift to ELMS following disappointment in Super Formula.
"I’m really looking forward to returning to racing in 2026."
Jack Doohan is set to compete in the European Le Mans Series in 2026 after his intended Super Formula program did not come to fruition. The Haas reserve driver, who lost his Alpine Formula 1 seat in early 2025, had aimed to revitalize his career in Japan, but a challenging pre-season marked by crashes and a lack of speed disrupted that plan, even though Toyota minimized these concerns.
Instead, the Australian will race in ELMS with Nielsen Racing, driving an LMP2 Oreca alongside Ed Pearson and Roy Nissany. The season kicks off on April 12 with the 4 Hours of Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
"I'm really looking forward to returning to racing in 2026 and joining Nielsen Racing for my first season in LMP2," Doohan stated. "It’s a fresh challenge with much to learn, but I’m confident we’ll quickly gain speed with such a strong team supporting me."
Doohan will balance this program with his reserve responsibilities at Haas, where he collaborates with Ryo Hirakawa.
