Doohan announces switch to ELMS following Super Formula disappointment.

"I’m really thrilled to be back racing in 2026."

Jack Doohan is set to compete in the European Le Mans Series in 2026 after his anticipated Super Formula program did not come to fruition. The Haas reserve driver, who lost his Alpine Formula 1 position early in 2025, had aimed to rejuvenate his career in Japan; however, a challenging pre-season characterized by crashes and a lack of speed hindered that trajectory, even though Toyota downplayed those concerns.

Instead, the Australian will race in the ELMS with Nielsen Racing, piloting an LMP2 Oreca alongside Ed Pearson and Roy Nissany. The season kicks off on April 12 with the 4 Hours of Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

"I’m really thrilled to be back racing in 2026 and to be joining Nielsen Racing for my first season in LMP2," Doohan stated. "It’s a new challenge with plenty to learn, but I’m confident we’ll catch up quickly with such a strong team supporting me."

Doohan will balance this program with his reserve duties at Haas, where he shares responsibilities with Ryo Hirakawa.
