Antonelli proposes that Ferrari 'provided' an ADUO boost.

"I anticipate significant changes are on the horizon."

Kimi Antonelli has implied that Ferrari may have received approval to narrow the engine gap with Mercedes, although other reports suggest that this is not currently the case. While speaking to Sky Italia during the April break, the championship leader hinted at a major shift potentially happening as early as the Miami race. "I’m aware that there will be substantial changes - the ADUO was also granted to Ferrari, for instance, which will enable them to enhance their engine," the Mercedes driver stated.

"They will certainly close the gap, as their car is already competitive, so if they can also make improvements to the engine, they will draw even nearer. However, I’m not overly concerned. Ultimately, when I’m on the track, I’ll concentrate on doing what I’ve done in previous weekends - aiming to go as fast as possible, focusing on myself and on my tasks, and the objectives set for each weekend.

"I’m confident that we will also introduce some significant upgrades," Antonelli continued. "The car is already performing well, and there’s a positive dynamic within the team, so I’m not particularly worried, though I know other teams will catch up eventually."

Nevertheless, Eurosport Italia reports that Antonelli's insight might be premature. The FIA has reportedly not yet granted access to the ADUO system, with assessments scheduled to happen only after the Miami Grand Prix on May 3. Any improvements related to the engine would likely emerge later, potentially not until Monaco in early June.

Ferrari drivers have expressed their views on where they believe the shortfall exists. "We are significantly trailing behind Mercedes," Lewis Hamilton remarked. "I don’t know why. I can’t comprehend how they manage to extract so much more power from their engine. Perhaps we’ll figure it out."

Red Bull is also seeking answers, although its challenges appear more intricate. "The bodywork is quite significantly behind," former advisor Dr. Helmut Marko told Kleine Zeitung. "But Red Bull has a history of overcoming these challenges. The issue is that the regulations are overly complex, and the software plays too dominant a role."
