If you're a fan of Formula 1 or racing in general, it's hard to escape the flood of social media marketing surrounding the Miami Grand Prix. Thankfully, not all of it involves silly collaborations with coffee shops, branded sneakers, or Teletubby-like racing suits (looking at you, Mercedes). Some exclusive Miami content is genuinely impressive, like Cadillac’s new livery.
This striking design marks the team’s inaugural race on American soil, which is indeed significant. Given that F1 is a global sport—and with the other “American” team not making much of that aspect—it’s easy to overlook the enormity of an F1 team racing at home, particularly for the many extended team members linked to the project and General Motors.
What I love most about the Stars and Stripes motif is its straightforwardness. It’s not loud or overly intricate, demonstrating that sometimes simplicity is key. Cassidy Towriss, the team’s Chief Brand Advisor, put it perfectly: “The Cadillac Formula 1 Team’s special Miami Grand Prix livery is a natural extension and speaks without excess. It’s intentional and assured.
“This is our first home race, and it was important for us that fans still recognize what they’ve come to expect. I can’t wait for the crowd to see it on track for the first time. There’s truly no place like home,” she remarked.
Considering Cassidy’s exceptional style and design sensibility, I wouldn’t be surprised if she played a significant role in the livery’s creation.
Cadillac F1 drivers Checo Perez and Valtteri Bottas will also don Miami-specific suits this weekend, although the team is keeping those designs under wraps, as I haven’t come across anything on social media yet.
