If you're a Formula 1 enthusiast or just enjoy racing, you cannot miss the flood of social media promotions around the Miami Grand Prix. Fortunately, not all of it is about silly collaborations with coffee shops, branded sneakers, or Teletubby-like racing suits (looking at you, Mercedes). Some Miami-exclusive content is genuinely impressive, like Cadillac's new livery.
This striking design celebrates the team's inaugural race on American soil, which is quite significant. As F1 is a worldwide sport—and given that the other "American" team hasn't really embraced that identity—it can be easy to overlook how monumental it is for an F1 team to compete at home, especially for the many extended team members associated with the project and General Motors.
What I love about the Stars and Stripes theme is its elegance. It isn’t loud or overly intricate, reinforcing the idea that simplicity can often be more effective. Cassidy Towriss, the team's Chief Brand Advisor, summed it up well: “The Cadillac Formula 1 Team’s special Miami Grand Prix livery is a natural extension and conveys without being excessive. It’s intentional and confident.
“This is our first home race, and it was important for us that fans still recognize what they know. I’m excited for the crowd to see it on track for the first time. There’s no place like home,” she added.
Considering Cassidy’s exceptional taste and design sensibility, I would not be surprised if her influence significantly shaped the livery.
Cadillac F1 drivers Checo Perez and Valtteri Bottas will don Miami-themed suits this weekend, although the team has kept those designs under wraps, as I haven’t spotted anything on social media yet.
