Mekis: Lambyaz will become the team leader of McLaren.

      In 2028, Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen's race engineer, will join McLaren. McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown stated that Lambiase will take on some of the responsibilities currently held by team principal Andrea Stella. However, in Miami, Red Bull Racing team principal Laurent Mekies mentioned that Lambiase will lead the team from Woking.

      Laurent Mekies: "It is true that over the last four to five years the team has lost several key specialists, but in this case, we did not want to take a defensive position. We take this issue very seriously and are doing everything to create the best conditions for attracting, developing, and retaining employees. I am confident that we will succeed in this area, but will it be a linear process during which no one leaves the team? No.

      Gianpiero has received an incredible opportunity. He will become the team principal of McLaren. I have nothing but the best wishes for him.

      Our team creates talent. We are very proud that we usually grow specialists in-house and promote them upwards. But if we need specific knowledge or experience that can only be found in other teams, we are open to that option as well.

      Lambiase is set to spend another two years with us. We all tell each other that we want these two full years to be incredibly successful, and we are focused on achieving that goal."
