Timo Glock fined and stripped of his license
The German team Dörr Motorsport is competing in the "24 Hours of Nürburgring" in a McLaren 720S GT3 sports car, styled similarly to the championship-winning Benetton B195, which Michael Schumacher used to win his second title in 1995. We reported on this, as well as the fact that the crew of car number 69 includes Timo Glock, a former Formula 1 driver. Unfortunately, he had an unpleasant incident during the night: he was fined for a serious violation of the rules, which led to the revocation of his license, and consequently, he will not return to the wheel. When incidents occur on certain sections of the track that are over 20 km long, the speed is, of course, limited – a cap is introduced, which can be 120 km/h or even half that. This is necessary so that the marshals can safely evacuate damaged or malfunctioning vehicles, and the participants must strictly adhere to the speed limit. Glock had already received two penalties for similar violations, and a third automatically meant the revocation of his license, which allows him to compete in the NLS series and the "24 Hours of Nürburgring." And six minutes before midnight, he violated the speed limit again, after which the stewards announced that Timo was disqualified. His teammates – Timo Scheider, Ben Dörr, and Marvin Kirchhöfer – have to continue the race with just three of them. Two hours and thirty minutes before the finish, car number 69 is in 12th position.
