Prost was assaulted at home, while Salo is recuperating from a stabbing.
F1 icon Alain Prost has reportedly sustained injuries during a violent robbery at his residence near Lake Geneva. According to the Blick newspaper, multiple masked assailants broke into the four-time Formula 1 world champion’s villa in Nyon earlier this week. The 71-year-old is said to have incurred minor head injuries during the altercation, and one of his sons was allegedly coerced into opening the family safe under threat.
Swiss authorities initiated a large-scale manhunt that included dog units and forensic teams, with French officials also notified due to concerns that the gang may have escaped across the border. The precise value of the stolen items remains unknown, although reports highlighted Prost’s long-standing relationship with luxury watchmaker Richard Mille.
Blick mentioned that Prost has since returned to Dubai, where he holds a part-time residence. This incident occurs amid rising alarm over so-called "homejackings" aimed at affluent residents in the Lake Geneva area, with Swiss media indicating that 18 similar cases were reported in Geneva alone in 2025.
In a separate incident, former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo is recovering from what is suspected to be a stabbing in Bangkok. The 59-year-old informed Ilta-Sanomat that he sustained a deep leg wound while using a pedestrian crossing near his hotel after being closely passed by a moped rider. "The doctors had to sew some muscle and then put some skin over it," Salo explained. "There are 28 stitches in total."
Doctors reportedly believe the injury may have been intentionally inflicted with a knife. Salo also mentioned that local hospitals informed him that several similar incidents had occurred in the vicinity that evening. "Fortunately, this one hit my leg and not anything else," he remarked.
