Bearman remains composed regarding the future of Ferrari as Hamilton continues with the team.
Oliver Bearman states that he is not in a hurry to determine his Formula 1 future, despite the increasing interest surrounding the 21-year-old amid the sport's developing 2027 driver market. The highly regarded Haas driver has become one of the standout performers in recent seasons, consistently outpacing his experienced teammate Esteban Ocon and drawing attention from bigger teams.
Many insiders in the paddock believed that Ferrari might eventually include its junior driver in its main lineup for 2027. However, this situation became more complex when Lewis Hamilton declared in Montreal that he intends to stay with Ferrari in 2027 and possibly even beyond. At the same time, Charles Leclerc continues to enjoy substantial support within Ferrari, despite a challenging recent performance.
Haas boss Ayao Komatsu has also acknowledged that the team is actively exploring its lineup for 2027. When the Press Association asked Bearman if he needed clarity on Ferrari’s intentions, he remained calm. “There aren’t specific dates I need to adhere to,” he mentioned. “I’m not overly concerned about that. My focus is on becoming the best version of myself, helping this team compete effectively, and enjoying the process.”
Bearman did emphasize that Ferrari remains his ultimate goal. “For me, I’m contracted to Ferrari,” he pointed out. “They’ve believed in me from the start, so it’s natural for me to aim to be with them.”
“At present, my goal is to keep progressing with Haas. I’m really pleased with the direction we’re going.” He added, “No specific timeline, no issues.” Bearman recognized that the end of 2026 could result in significant changes throughout the grid. “Many drivers will have expiring contracts,” he observed. “I think everyone wants to see how the hierarchy shapes up in 2026, which will inform what 2027 looks like.”
“For me, that’s not my concern. My role is to drive the car; others are managing that for me.” The Briton feels increasingly assured that he is prepared for a top opportunity whenever it arises. “I believe I’m ready for anything that comes my way,” Bearman stated. “That’s what’s important.”
He also feels his consistency has greatly improved compared to his earlier Formula 1 outings, which included multiple crashes and penalty-point issues. “I would say I’ve made significant progress from a year ago,” he commented. “I’m definitely getting better at maintaining consistency.”
Bearman’s ascent has become particularly notable alongside Ocon, whose future with Haas now seems uncertain due to ongoing speculation about internal team tensions. Despite the rumors regarding his own future, Bearman asserts that he is purposefully steering clear of distractions. “Focusing on those rumors won’t enhance my performance,” he stated. “My primary objective is to perform to the best of my abilities, which positions me well for the future.”
