The helmet worn by Gilles Villeneuve during his last race in Formula 1 was sold at auction for a record $1.25 million. This is the record auction price for helmets. In second place is Ayrton Senna's helmet, which he used during the 1992 Belgian Grand Prix, sold for $966,000 in 2025. The sale was handled by the Canadian company Hall of Fame Collection, which specializes in various memorabilia related to Formula 1 – suits, gloves, parts of cars that participated in the Grand Prix. Villeneuve's helmet had been in a private collection for almost 30 years before it appeared at auction. The Canadian Ferrari driver used it during the 1982 San Marino Grand Prix in Imola.
