Le Mans: The marathon has started, with Toyota in the lead.
Not once this year have I had to lament the strange season calendars in different championships, mainly those held under the aegis of the FIA, yet there are still frustrating overlaps, and significant events coincide completely in timing.
For example, today the qualifying in Barcelona for F1 and the "24 Hours of Le Mans" at the French Circuit de la Sarthe started simultaneously. It feels somewhat wrong, especially since in previous years such overlaps were avoided.
In general, the "24 Hours of Le Mans" have started, and for almost the entire first hour, the BMW crew was in the lead; the hypercar with the number 20 was driven by a master like René Rast, but just a few seconds behind were two Cadillac sport prototypes.
However, that was only until the first pit stops, and now the picture on the track has changed somewhat, with the factory Toyota team crew moving ahead – car number 8 is being driven by Sébastien Buemi, while René Rast is just over two seconds behind the Japanese hypercar, and in third position is Alpine, led by Ferdinand Habsburg.
However, this is just the beginning…
