On Thursday, the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed kicked off, during which the Red Bull RB17 hypercar, developed by Red Bull Advanced Technologies, completed its first kilometers in public. This racing "monster" was designed by Adrian Newey. The hypercar is equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V10 Cosworth engine, and in combination with an electric motor, it produces a total power of 1200 hp. Thanks to the use of a carbon monocoque, the car weighs less than 900 kg. The RB17 employs technologies banned in Formula 1 – active suspension and advanced ground effect, allowing it to generate an impressive 1700 kg of downforce. Simulator data suggests that Newey's hypercar is capable of achieving lap times comparable to modern Formula 1 cars on tracks like Silverstone and Spa. A total of 50 RB17 units will be produced, each costing over six million euros. Owners will receive exclusive access to special track days and simulator training, which will help unlock the car's extreme capabilities. The first kilometers behind the wheel of the RB17 were entrusted to Adrian Newey. After the hill climb, he shared his impressions: "This is an incredibly special moment. The preparation for this project took a very long time. It seems I made the first sketch of the car back at Christmas 2021, but a lot of time has really passed since the idea was born. Everyone, both the guys and the girls at the team base, did an amazing job to bring the car to this stage. For me, it’s truly a special moment to bring the car to Goodwood and climb the hill for the first time."
