Roman Dumas is once again the fastest at Goodwood.

      Roman Dumas's career in motorsport has been ongoing for more than three decades, and although the French driver is already 48, he regularly adds to his list of achievements. In June, he won the popular Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for the sixth time, and although the Goodwood Hill cannot compare to it in height, Roman participates in the Festival of Speed almost every year, tackling the 1866-meter-long track with a height difference of 92.7 meters. This weekend, an interesting duel unfolded between him and Dan Ticktum, a Formula E driver who piloted a fourth-generation electric car (GEN4) – the electric series will transition to this in 2027. Dumas competed at Goodwood in the same specially prepared Ford Super Mustang Mach-E EV, with which he won the title of "King of the Mountain" in the American state of Colorado. Dan was very aggressive and stated that he intended to set a new record, although this is hardly realistic in a more or less "normal" racing car, as beating the achievement set two years ago by Max Chilton in the amazing McMurtry Spéirling electric car is unlikely. We previously reported on this car and the record, which stands at 39.081 seconds. Ticktum lost to Dumas in yesterday's qualifying and was the first to make his attempt today, speeding through the track in 42.46 seconds, which can be considered quite a decent result. Roman was the last to take the start in his bright blue Ford Mustang, and during his attempt, it was clear that he was faster. Ultimately, the stopwatch recorded his time as 41.98 seconds, with an average speed of 160.12 km/h. "It was a decent attempt, although not as good as the previous one," commented Dumas, who has become the winner of this competition for the third consecutive year. "We decided to make a number of changes to the settings, but they didn't have much effect, and the track was dustier than during the previous run. But overall, everything is fine, and this is another victory for me for Ford behind the wheel of this incredible car. The competitions at Goodwood are always very interesting, as they feature a variety of drivers competing in a wide range of cars, and of course, when you win, you are always happy. I have participated in them many times, which gave me a certain advantage over Dan Ticktum, who is at Goodwood for the first time, and in Formula E, he is used to racing on city tracks. Even if he studied this track carefully through video recordings, he still had to adapt to it."

      "I am quite satisfied too!" Ticktum stated in turn. "The condition of the track changed noticeably every time we went out on it, and it was unclear what to expect. Unfortunately, at the second corner, it was very dusty, as well as at the top of the hill, and I had a dangerous moment there – probably everyone saw it. It's a pity, of course, although if the track had been clean, I think we could have gone through in about 41.6 seconds. But in any case, our car is designed for circuit tracks, not for hill climbs, and this is my first time participating in such competitions. Overall, I am pleased that I quickly reached the necessary speeds, and I don't think we could have gone much faster. I hope that next year we can make another attempt!"
