What is the value of half a Mercedes G-Wagen? We're about to discover that.

The latest in car news and reviews, no nonsense
Now and then, an unusual chance to save (or at least try to save) something unique arises on Copart—every bored car enthusiast's go-to source for “What on earth happened here?” discussions during work. Today, we have a particularly bizarre case: a 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen with an incredibly strange instance of “vandalism” that I’ve encountered.
This G63 has been completely stripped, and then some. It seems someone took a look at this body-on-frame 4×4 and decided to keep only specific parts, leaving behind everything else, including the twin-turbo V8, the front axle, and much of the stunning tan interior.
At the time of publication, the auction hadn’t yet met its reserve, but bidding had already surpassed $22,000. Based on Ebay prices, that's roughly what you would pay for just a low-mile V8, so it’s no surprise that the seller anticipates bids to rise a bit more before the auction concludes. And that will happen soon. We’ll find out how much someone is willing to pay for the better half of a G63 before the day is over.

Given how extensively this car was taken apart, it's surprising how much is still intact. The roof has been hacked up, but the dashboard, steering wheel, and seats are still there, along with nearly everything in front of the firewall. Need a side mirror? How about two?
Social media has already picked up on this one, and as others have pointed out in the comments, the remaining shell could serve as a detailed simulation cockpit. Are we still spending over $20k on projects for social media these days? If so, don’t forget to send us the link when it’s finished.

This was a very nice G-Wagen in green with a tan interior. Now, it exists as an engine in a rather awkward crate.
