When many people hear “Hummer,” they often think of the original H2. It's hard to believe that this vehicle made its debut 25 years ago, especially if you're still reminiscing about early 2000s pop culture like I am. If AM General hadn’t created the iconic civilian version at the turn of the millennium, music videos and MTV Cribs would have had a different vibe. To celebrate this, GMC is producing a limited edition run of Hummer EVs in yellow—yes, that classic color.

GMC has named it the Hummer EV Icon 25. This edition will be produced in limited quantities and will feature serialized plaques on the dashboard, though the press release does not specify how many will be made. Regardless, you’ll easily recognize one, whether it’s a pickup or an SUV.

Yellow was the primary launch color for the H2 when it was introduced in 2002, and it remained through its production, which concluded in the 2009 model year. In this new iteration, it’s part of a striking two-tone design, as all GMC Hummer EVs feature a black upper and lower section. The Icon 25 model pairs the yellow exterior with a Jet Black interior, although the signature color is used sparingly inside; it mainly appears on the dash plaque, while the stitching is white and notably more understated.

Naturally, that’s probably the only understated aspect of the entire vehicle. The Hummer EV boasts up to 1,160 horsepower in the tri-motor 3X configuration or 635 hp in the dual-motor 2X trim with the Extreme Off-Road Package. You can equip the Icon 25 features on either model; just don’t inquire about the price, as GMC hasn’t disclosed that information yet.

These models will be available in the U.S. and Canada later this year as 2027 models. GMC is also introducing four additional exterior color options for the Hummer EV lineup: Dark Ridge, Azurite Blue, Dark Ember, and Deep Void Matte. Unfortunately, I don’t have visuals for those colors, as the company’s PR team only provided images of the yellow version.

Correction: We accidentally included images of a yellow H3 in this article as well. I attribute that to a momentary lapse in judgment—Caleb certainly knows what an H2 looks like. Nonetheless, The Drive apologizes for the error. Our sincerest apologies! —Ed.

The original H2 debuted 25 years ago in 2002, its color being yellow. What better way to honor this pop culture icon than with an even crazier truck finished in the same hue?
