When people think of “Hummer,” many immediately recall the original H2. It launched 25 years ago, which is quite remarkable to consider if you're still influenced by 2000s pop culture like I am. Had it not been for AM General producing the large vehicle for civilians at the turn of the millennium, music videos and MTV Cribs would have certainly looked different. To commemorate this, GMC is releasing a limited edition of Hummer EVs in yellow—yes, that bright shade.
GMC has branded it the Hummer EV Icon 25. It will be produced in limited numbers with serialized plaques on the dashboard, though the press release does not specify how many will be made. Regardless, you will recognize it, whether in pickup or SUV form.
Yellow was the flagship launch color for the H2 back in 2002, and it remained throughout the model's life until the 2009 model year. This time, it appears in a high-contrast two-tone exterior design, as all GMC Hummer EVs feature a black top and bottom. The Icon 25 model also includes a Jet Black interior, although the highlight color is used sparingly inside; it appears in only a few spots, such as the dash plaque, with the stitching being white and much more understated.
General Motors
Of course, that's probably the only thing understated about the entire vehicle. The Hummer EV boasts up to 1,160 horsepower in the tri-motor 3X configuration, or 635 hp in the dual-motor 2X trim with the Extreme Off-Road Package. The Icon 25 features can be added to either model; just don’t inquire about the price, as GMC hasn’t disclosed it yet.
These will be available in the U.S. and Canada later this year as 2027 models. GMC is also introducing four additional exterior colors to the Hummer EV lineup: Dark Ridge, Azurite Blue, Dark Ember, and Deep Void Matte. Unfortunately, I can’t describe what any of those look like, as the company’s PR team only provided images of the yellow variants.
Correction: We inadvertently included images of a yellow H3 in this post. I attribute that to a momentary lapse—Caleb certainly knows what an H2 looks like. Nonetheless, The Drive sincerely regrets the oversight. Apologies! —Ed.
