Pierre Gasly: I am not satisfied with the qualifying result.
For Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto, qualifying in Belgium ended in the second session, where they showed twelfth and thirteenth times respectively. Both Alpine drivers are hoping to fight for points in the race.
Pierre Gasly (12th): "First of all, a big thank you to the team for fixing my car after the incident on Friday. The barrier in that corner is positioned somewhat unfortunate – the same happened to Lewis Hamilton in the third practice.
Speaking of qualifying, I am not satisfied with twelfth place, as the goal was to reach the final. However, these are our positions at the moment, and we need to keep working if we want to earn points tomorrow. Due to penalties for competitors, I will start tenth, so I need to try to take advantage of the starting position.
Our goal is more about overtaking Audi rather than battling with the Racing Bulls, who are very fast again. We need to improve the car to get back in the fight with them.
There are opportunities for overtaking on the Spa track, so we will try to make the most of the settings, gain positions, and earn points."
Franco Colapinto (13th): "We hoped to achieve more in qualifying, but thanks to penalties, I will start eleventh. I lost a bit of time on the final lap, so I could have done better, but overall we lack pace compared to some competitors.
It seems that after Silverstone we managed to make a small step forward, which is positive. I hope to maintain this momentum tomorrow. The Racing Bulls drivers look fast, and Audi are starting right in front of us, so they are our competitors. We need to understand where we are losing and improve to get ahead of them again.
Right now, all attention is on the race, where we will try to earn points. We need to focus on a good start and fight for places in the top ten."
