Schumacher aims to remain in IndyCar through 2027.

      Mick Schumacher has stated that he now aims to continue in IndyCar for the next season, despite starting his 2026 campaign with aspirations of eventually making a return to Formula 1. The former Haas driver achieved his first top-ten finish of the season in Nashville and mentioned that discussions are already underway regarding a seat for 2027.

      "I really enjoy driving these cars, and I plan to stay," Schumacher expressed on Conor Daly’s SpeedStreet podcast. "It would not be truthful to say that we haven’t had any conversations at all. It’s crucial to consider all possibilities and determine what aligns well."

      "It’s not just about the car; the team and the people are also vital. Victory is only possible as a team."

      While Schumacher’s current role at Rahal Letterman Lanigan is uncertain following the team’s sale of its third entry, he has been associated with a potential opportunity at Meyer Shank Racing. The 27-year-old also acknowledged that oval racing has presented some unique challenges.

      "After racing on an oval track, I find myself feeling dizzy from continuously turning left," he noted. "I’ve never felt that before."

      Nevertheless, Schumacher is confident that this discipline fits his style. "Ovals match my driving style somewhat better," the German remarked. "You need to be incredibly precise on an oval, requiring a lot of finesse."
