Vasseur: It is important to maintain a high pace of car development.
On Sky Sport, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur spoke about what needs to improve in the second half of the season...
Frederic Vasseur: "In the first half of the season, the situation changed from race to race. Before Spain, Mercedes was dominant, and in the last races, we earned more points than they did.
What do we need to improve? If I draw conclusions based on the experience from Hungary, I would say in terms of execution. But overall, this year we have been doing well in capitalizing on our opportunities, often achieving the maximum possible result.
We know we need to improve the power unit, and we are working on it, but the development of the engine always takes longer than the development of the chassis.
The most important thing is to maintain a high pace of car development. McLaren is doing well with this, but they prefer major updates, so they make a big leap forward all at once, while we try to bring new updates to every race. It’s important to keep this pace, as there are still 12 races left in the season. That’s a lot. We have room for improvement in terms of the chassis."
