Carlos Sainz denies that he was in talks with Audi.

Last week, Williams announced the extension of the contract with Carlos Sainz, however, before the official announcement in the press, there was active discussion about the possibility of the Spanish driver moving to Audi. After the contract extension with Williams, Carlos stated that he had not negotiated with the team from Hinwil.

"The talks about Audi are just regular paddock rumors," Carlos Sainz told the British press during the race in Zandvoort. "I can confirm that this year I seriously did not consider moving to another team.

Before signing a contract, of course, you always assess the situation as a whole and consider different options. But when we weighed everything, I realized that there is one very important point for me – I have never liked leaving a team during a difficult period for it.

It’s not in my character to move to another team if the situation worsened after my arrival. When I decided to join Williams, I understood that there would be no avoiding difficult periods. Right now, we are indeed going through a particularly tough time, but I am ready to accept that.

Everyone in the team is unhappy with the current situation, and we are all trying to change it as soon as possible. But, as I said, it’s not in my character to abandon a team when difficulties arise."
