For work at MadRing, the organizers hired 700 people.
The Formula 3 tests, which took place earlier this week at the new Madrid racetrack MadRing, served as the final check of its services' readiness ahead of the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix. Starting in 2027, this race will have a permanent home in the capital of the country, and the national automobile club – officially named El Real Automóvil Club de España (Royal Automobile Club of Spain) – is taking this prestigious project very seriously.
This organization has a rather symbolic abbreviation, RACE, and back in May, we reported on how, by joining forces with the racetrack, it is preparing a large number of personnel who will work at MadRing during the race weekend.
The Madrid newspaper AS shared the following statistics: during the F3 tests, thanks to RACE's efforts, a team of 700 people gained experience at the racetrack. Of these, 575 are marshals and officials, 80 medical personnel, 40 firefighters, more than thirty professionals representing the motorsport community, and 30 employees of the Royal Automobile Club of Spain itself.
This impressively sized team is responsible for addressing all issues related to sports organization and safety, and if necessary, performing rescue operations during the upcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Formula 3 tests were used to practice the interaction of all racetrack services, and this same team had previously worked at the racetrack in Jarama during the Spanish F4 championship stage.
"The experience gained by our team, officials, and other professionals during the training sessions at the Jarama racetrack guarantees that they will handle the safety tasks at the Formula 1 race in Madrid, a historic event that is so important for all of Spanish motorsport," said Ignacio Fernandez, a representative of RACE.
The Spanish Grand Prix will take place at the MadRing racetrack from September 11 to 13.
