The President of Argentina met with the President of FIA.
In Argentina, there is a serious aim to bring back the national stage to the Formula 1 calendar. Recently, we reported that the track in Buenos Aires is being brought in line with the requirements of FIM and FIA, and now another step has been taken – the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, discussed the country's ambitions in motorsport with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem during the FIA Americas Congress 2026.
Milei and Ben Sulayem jointly opened the congress in the Argentine capital, where the country's desire to attract the strongest FIA championships became part of a broader discussion about the future of motorsport in North and South America.
Milei stated that Argentina has all the necessary conditions for the return of Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship to the country, reminding of the country's racing traditions and its drivers.
The FIA President supported the local authorities' idea, but the negotiations in Buenos Aires alone do not guarantee Argentina a place on the calendar. The next step is to secure the necessary financial guarantees and submit an official application.
