Sainz calls for patience regarding Madrig's debut.

      Carlos Sainz has encouraged Formula 1 and its drivers to refrain from harsh criticism of the Madrid circuit after its inaugural Grand Prix next weekend, emphasizing that the new track will likely require adjustments. The Madrid local and circuit ambassador noted that recent Formula 3 testing has already revealed the venue’s distinctive character.

      "I believe the F3 test went well, as the drivers left feeling surprised by the circuit," he commented at Monza. "It’s one of the toughest tracks they’ve ever faced, which already gives it character and personality."

      However, Sainz urged Formula 1 to remain open-minded after the first race highlights the new layout's strengths and weaknesses. "What I ask from everyone involved, from Formula 1 to the drivers and the circuit, is to keep an open attitude towards the feedback the drivers may offer post-Grand Prix," he stated. "I request patience because it’s impossible to get everything perfect in the first year."

      He cited Miami, Mexico, and Baku as examples of tracks that saw significant improvements following their debuts. "As long as there’s a willingness to adapt and improve, I believe it will be a very successful Grand Prix."

      Sainz acknowledged that overtaking opportunities might be an aspect that needs focus. "Looking at the circuit initially, there don’t seem to be any obvious overtaking zones," he said. "That’s likely one area that could be enhanced after the first race."

      Regarding his own expectations, he expressed frustration given Williams' challenging season. "It really frustrates me that it's happening in what is possibly my worst season, which is 2026," he remarked. "But, as long as everything is resolved next year, we'll quickly move on from 2026."
