      La próxima temporada Colton Herta no solo desempeñará las funciones de piloto reserva de Cadillac F1, sino que también competirá en la Fórmula 2 con el equipo británico Hitech. Esto es importante tanto para obtener la superlicencia como para conocer muchos de los circuitos donde se disputan las pruebas del campeonato mundial. Algunos de ellos le son familiares, pero no todos.

      «Quizá soy mayor que muchos pilotos de F2, pero en cuanto a velocidad esos chicos no le pierden a nadie.       Pero ya hoy en diversas fuentes han aparecido fotografías tomadas en Monza en las que el piloto estadounidense conduce un viejo monoplaza de Fórmula 2 en un circuito empapado por la lluvia.

      No hay información oficial al respecto, pero se trata de pruebas privadas en las que pueden participar prácticamente quienes tengan la cualificación necesaria; las organiza la empresa suiza Kateyama, especializada en ofrecer este tipo de servicios a equipos y pilotos profesionales de competición.

      En la web de la empresa figura efectivamente que el 2 de noviembre en Monza celebra este tipo de pruebas, en las que los participantes pueden pilotar antiguos monoplazas de las categorías GP3, F3, GP2 y F2. Uno de los testigos de lo que hoy ocurre en el clásico autódromo italiano comentó: «¡Colton Herta está ahora en Monza entrenando con un viejo monoplaza de Fórmula 2! La estrella de IndyCar aprovechó que la empresa Kateyama organizó estas pruebas y se está preparando para la próxima temporada».
