Hamilton: Racing should be accessible to fans

Under Liberty Media, the championship calendar is constantly expanding, shifting to regions where Formula 1 has far fewer fans than in Europe, and ticket prices are rising along with the payouts from the circuits. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton believes that Formula 1 should not forget its roots, and attendance at races should be accessible to fans. Lewis Hamilton: "Expanding the audience of the sport is not a bad thing, but racing on new circuits is sometimes inaccessible to ordinary people. European fans are less focused on the celebrities on the starting line and more interested in the action on the track and we should not alienate this audience that has supported us for many years. It is important to avoid race tickets being out of reach for those who work hard all year to go to a Grand Prix. Already now, not everyone can afford it."
