Al-Attiyah's former navigator was seriously injured in the crash

      Mathieu Beaumel, Nasser Al-Attiyah's former navigator and four-time Dakar winner, was seriously injured in a road accident. He was on his way to Reims, France, for the Rallye Monte Carlo Historique (Monte Carlo Historic Rally) and had stopped on the highway to help the occupants of a car that had been involved in an accident shortly before. His father confirmed the sad news to La Provence, a Marseille newspaper: "He saw the wrecked car and stopped to help people when he was hit by another car. His injuries are serious, but he was conscious after the accident." There is no exact information about Mathieu Beaumel's condition yet, but according to the newspaper, he suffered injuries to both legs and is in an induced coma. Beaumel is considered one of the best navigators in the World Rally-Raid Championship and for many years teamed up with Nasser Al-Attiyah for the Volkswagen, Toyota and Prodrive factory teams.
