Ferrari severed ties with Jean Todt.

Jean Todt has disclosed that he no longer maintains contact with his previous Formula 1 employer, Ferrari. The 78-year-old Frenchman joined F1 in the early 1990s to lead the struggling Maranello-based team and later served as FIA president until 2021. Since his complete departure from Ferrari in 2008, the iconic team has been led by Stefano Domenicali, Marco Mattiacci, Maurizio Arrivabene, Mattia Binotto, and the current team principal Frederic Vasseur.

"Since I left, I've heard from some team members," Todt shared in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica. "However, after leaving the FIA, I have not had any further contact with Ferrari. I must say, this leaves me a bit astonished, given the extensive time I dedicated to this remarkable company and the numerous results we achieved together," he noted.

"When I arrived in 1993, it was like a castle in ruins. Some designers were working in the UK, and we had a wind tunnel that was outdated and nearly unusable. But gradually, we managed to create a true gem."

During Todt's tenure, Michael Schumacher secured five championships, and Kimi Raikkonen became the drivers’ champion in 2007. Since then, no driver has won the title for Ferrari. He revealed that he still has regular contact with Schumacher, despite the F1 legend suffering from long-term brain injuries. "I see Michael all the time," Todt stated. "He’s a part of me."

Todt attributes the success not only to Schumacher but also to a strong team of managers and engineers. "I wouldn’t have accomplished anything alone, but I was skilled at building a team and keeping these talented individuals together for years, ultimately creating a dream team," he remarked. "The 14 world championship titles we won are firmly established in the history books – it was the most successful era in Ferrari’s Formula 1 legacy," Todt concluded.
