      Sauber, set to transition to full works status with Audi in 2026, is establishing a base in the UK. Last year, the team stirred controversy by successfully persuading the FIA to permit higher spending under the budget cap, aimed at offsetting the increased costs associated with being based in Switzerland.

      Another concern is that teams not located in the UK face disadvantages in attracting top specialist talent in Formula 1 due to relocation challenges. The FIA’s single-seater director, Nikolas Tombazis, mentioned last year that teams like Sauber might need to relocate to the UK, a notion they believe is not ideal for the operation of a world championship.

      Nevertheless, Sauber has announced plans to construct a "new technical centre in the UK." The statement noted, "The Sauber Motorsport Technology Centre UK will enhance the team's presence and influence within the global Formula 1 landscape." The team remarked that this move will grant Sauber-Audi access to the abundant "talent pool" in the vicinity of Silverstone, Milton Keynes, and nearby areas. Sauber acknowledged that an exact location has yet to be determined, but they aim to be operational "by summer 2025."

      Team principal Mattia Binotto emphasized that Sauber's Swiss headquarters in Hinwil will continue to be the "key site." "Expanding into the UK enables us to stay close to one of the world's most dynamic motorsport ecosystems," he stated.
