Promoter of the Mexico GP expresses concern about the future after Perez.

The organizer of the Mexican GP believes the event can thrive even without local star Sergio Perez in Formula 1, though there are concerns about securing a contract extension. The race weekend in Mexico City has been a vibrant celebration of Perez and enjoys a festive atmosphere since it returned to the schedule in 2015. However, the current contract comes to an end this year, marking the first time in 35-year-old Perez’s career that he will not be racing after being dropped by Red Bull. Several months ago, Alejandro Soberon, CEO of the race promoter CIE, expressed his confidence in the Mexican GP's ability to flourish without Perez. "It’s all about the right marketing," he stated. "Having a local hero is advantageous, but even in their absence, fans will seek a new figure to support." Nonetheless, with Perez's absence now definite, Soberon has expressed greater concern. "As the organizers, we are quite worried about Sergio’s absence and are looking to extend our contract with Formula 1," he remarked. "We now have the capability to offer the audience a much more impressive show compared to five years ago, so I believe that the competition among the drivers and the other vibrant aspects of our event will keep the audience engaged."
