FIA president dreams of having a Chinese team in F1

Mohammed bin Sulayem in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro said that he would like to see in the future in Formula 1 factory team of one of the Chinese automakers. "For two years I have been dreaming that in Formula 1 were represented in the great powers - said the president of the FIA, who has made a lot of efforts to the world championship appeared in the factory team Cadillac. - At the next stage we need to invite one of the Chinese automakers. We already have a racer from this country, but should we think about the number of teams or their quality? We need only high-level teams". The logic of the FIA president is clear: in 2024, China will produce 31.28 million cars, which is more than in the United States, Japan and India combined. Experts believe that Bin Sulayem is referring to Geely, which is one of the three largest Chinese car companies, and Guangyu Zhou is already serving as an ambassador for this brand. Geely Holding owns stakes in such world-famous companies as Volvo, Polestar (together with Volvo Cars), Aston Martin (together with Mercedes and other investors), Proton, Smart (together with Mercedes) and Lotus. Experts believe that Bin Sulayem is referring to this Chinese concern, even if it was not mentioned directly.
